Scrutiny Committee Meeting
The Scrutiny Committee will meet at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 14th July to address the decision of the Executive to go to consultation about the proposed closure of Offerton School.
The meeting is in Committee Rooms 2 and 3 at the Town Hall.
Members of the public are welcome to attend as observers. No questions may be asked.

In November Offerton School celebrated the achievements of its students at the Presentation Evening held in the grandeur of Stockport Town Hall.
Our esteemed guest was Gordon Burns, whose recounting of personal experiences of being a reporter and presenter of considerable repute was both humorous and inspirational. |

Year 9 Technology students took part in a Slattery’s (Chocolatiers) Workshop as part of an enterprise project and as you can imagine this was a difficult task for the students who found in ‘hard’ to enjoy their work!!!! |

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10th, 11th, 12th February over 100 dancers descended upon the stage at Offerton School to perform a number of dance pieces. With sell out audience on all three nights, stars were truly born. |

| Yr9 disneyland paris study trip |

A group of 35 Yr 9 students recently took part in a four day study trip to Disneyland Paris. The trip give students a fantastic opportunity to develop their ICT and Business Studies knowledge and use of French as they took part in seminars and completed research projects, as well as enjoying the rides. |

| Auschwitz & berlin study tour |

"Our GCSE History and Philosophy students recently returned from a successful 3 day fieldtrip to Poland and Germany. The busy itinerary included a flight to Krakow, followed by a tour of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz Birkenau, here students laid a wreath on behalf of Andrew Stunell MP. We enjoyed a meal in Krakow's historic market square before an overnight train journey to Berlin. |

As Head of Year 9, I have recently had the privilege of taking a group of students with excellent attendance on an educational and social residential trip to London.
We began with a visit to the London Dungeons where students were given a feel for the ‘underbelly’ of 19th Century London before experiencing close encounters with both Jack The Ripper and Sweeny Todd; thankfully, all had the sense to decline a ‘tasty snack’ from Mrs. Lovetts Pie Shop! |

On the 22nd Feb to 24th Feb 2010, 21 Year 10 students attended a Maths Residential in the Lake District. These students were on the trip to improve their understanding of Maths and experience a different environment where they could gather data for their studies. |

On Wednesday 3rd February, we held another of our very popular and enjoyable Deep Learning Days. For Year 8, the timetable was suspended and students were involved in the Change4Life programme, the new Department for Health initiative you may have seen advertised on TV |

On the 19th December Year 10 students spent the day bag packing at the Sainsbury’s store in Stockport to raise funds for their history trip to Auschwitz and Berlin. |

| MAKE YOUR MARK cHALLENGE & mAKE IT ENTERPRISING |

On the 8 October 2009, 8 Year 10 students were selected to take part in an Enterprise competition at Dukenfield Town Hall. The competition was run by the Manufacturing Institute and was a great opportunity for students to learn about the jobs available in the manufacturing industry and also take part in an exciting and fun competition. |
